My contract job ended...I've been saving up, and decided to take a vacation.
So here I am writing from a tiny internet cafe here in Hong Kong.
My first time in Asia!
It has been pouring rain the 2 days I have been here.
Fortunately the heaviest rain fell when I had a massive case of Jet Lag and slept most of Day 1.
Jet Lag = I arrived at 7:15am, got my room at 11:00am, and woke up at 7:00pm.
(Actually, "Day 1" was really taken up by the plane ride - 14 hour flight + crossing the international date line = a full day).
Today, I tried to go to a few different places...very little luck!
- The 26-meter tall Buddha Statue is closed off because of mudslides (took a 45-minute each way Train Ride to find that out).
- The hi-tech computer convention I attended was SWAMPED and little more than local flea market selling computer parts. So, if I wanted to build computers real cheap, this would be the right place. To be honest, I expected a bit better from one of the major cities of the world...
- The 15-story "center dedicated to experimental art" turned out to be a COLLEGE and had very little in the way of art on display.
Now it's almost 6:00pm.
Ummm....can I find a tour guide anyone??
This place is very expensive...and the auric congestion of the city is beginning to get to me.
Fortunately I am staying on the 32nd floor of a hotel...in a city, there is a bit more "space" way up in the air than there is on the ground.
One more day in HK, then it's off to my next destination.
I have taken some pictures. Maybe I'll find a way to post them.
